18th Annual Western Roundup
Irvine, CA –
On Sunday, June 7th, Miracles for Kids, along with its event partners the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and National Charity League Newport Beach, hosted its 18th Annual Western Roundup Picnic at Hidden Valley in Irvine, California. The event was attended by over 600 people, including 85+ critically ill children and their families, as well as hundreds of donors and supporters of the three organizations. Attendance at the event was free.
Miracles for Kids joined PCRF in hosting this event three years ago, with the purpose of offering a safe, joyous place where the organization’s grant recipient children can spend time with friends and family and enjoy the many facets of childhood. Importantly, the event also allows Miracles for Kids to create a day that parents and caregivers can share with their child at no cost to them.
Events at the Roundup this year included bouncy houses, pony rides, petting zoo, carnival rides and games, arts and crafts, face painting, old-time photos, boat rides, raffles and more. Attendees were also given the opportunity to participate in a dove release ceremony in memory of or in honor of a child. Every child that participated received prizes, teddy bears, t-shirts and more to take home at the end of the day. Parents were also given an opportunity to have a complimentary family portrait taken as a souvenir.
Miracles for Kids is grateful for the support of the many volunteers and donors that made this year’s event possible. They include US Trust Bank of America Private Wealth Management, In n’ Out Burger, Shulman, Hodges & Bastian, among many others.
The 19th annual Western Roundup will be held in June 2010. Details on next year’s event will be available in January 2010.
