Tami Cárdenas - Development & Marketing Director

Ms. Tami Cárdenas is responsible for leading fundraising and marketing initiatives for Miracles for Kids. She crafts marketing, event and campaign strategies to advance the organization’s mission, while building brand awareness and respect among key constituents. The Miracles for Kids’ mission is near and dear to her heart.

Prior to joining Miracles for Kids, Ms. Cárdenas raised $37 million in annual operating revenue for Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties in her role as the Vice President of Development and Marketing. During her tenure, fundraising grew by more than 200% and the organization became the largest revenue generating food bank in the country. In a down economy, she helped build the organization’s most successful major gifts program and drove down the cost to raise $1 well below industry standards. To address space constraints, she also spearheaded a $10 million capital campaign that enabled the Silicon Valley based food bank to grow capacity, scale, streamline operations and increase overall impact in the community.

A graduate from UC Berkeley, Ms. Cárdenas was previously the Director of Development for Support Network for Battered Women. She has served on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and she was honored by the Silicon Valley Business Journal as a "Woman of Influence.”

Although Ms. Cárdenas lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years, she was born and raised in Southern California. Today she lives in Long Beach with her husband and their energetic four-year-old twins. She is a fluent Spanish speaker and enjoys getting lost in a novel. Before having twins, she was an avid quilter – a pastime she hopes won’t only be a thing of the past!
