Client Story

Meet Isaias

(March 2025)Before learning of his diagnosis, Isaias’ family had been dealing with the loss of their home due to the recent Los Angeles fires. The following morning after the family was ordered to evacuate, Isaias, age 7, woke up with inflamed gums and cheeks. He first went to a dentist and received antibiotics. However, as the infection grew worse, two specialists referred them to CHLA, which is where bloodwork and additional tests discovered Isaias had Leukemia.

As a single parent to two children, it has been increasingly difficult for Isaia’s mom to balance the responsibilities of losing her home while learning about Isaias’ treatment. Thankfully a close relative has allowed them to reside in their home for the time being until suitable housing is found. Since his diagnosis, Isaias has undergone multiple rounds of chemo, lumbar punctures, and blood transfusions to lessen his painful symptoms.

As a housekeeper, Isaia’s mom has not been able to return to work since the fires and his diagnosis. The family has managed to get by with the help of other family members. Isaias’ mother is extremely grateful for all the support Miracles for Kids has provided to her and her children.
