A Miracle Moment – Alexia

(September 2026) – At just three years old, Aryanet began experiencing severe pain in her legs and stomach. Her parents initially took her to the emergency room, but when the pain returned a few days later, this time accompanied by a fever, they brought her to CHLA in search of answers. There, their lives changed with a diagnosis no family expects to hear – Leukemia.

Now five years old, Aryanet continues to receive weekly chemotherapy through a chest port. Her treatment has brought significant challenges, including steroid therapy that temporarily left her unable to walk on her own. She is now beginning to regain her mobility, and as she grows older, has become more understanding and cooperative during medical procedures, showing remarkable strength through each new challenge.

Aryanet’s diagnosis has changed daily life for her entire family. Her father stays home to provide the care she needs, while her mother has been able to return to work part-time. With one parent unable to work and the family relying on savings to make ends meet, the financial strain has become another challenge they must navigate.

Through it all, Aryanet finds joy in the things she loves most—painting, drawing, singing, playing outside, cooking, and her favorite Disney movies, including Monsters, Inc., Coco, and Encanto. These everyday moments give Aryanet opportunities to have fun and simply be a kid beyond the challenges of her illness.
