Meet Benjamin

(September 2026) – It began when Benjamin’s mom noticed unusual bruising on his body that seemed to be getting worse. Concerned, she took him to the emergency room, where routine testing revealed alarming abnormalities in his blood count. Benjamin was quickly transferred to CHOC, where his family received the devastating news that he had Leukemia.

Benjamin’s treatment included intensive chemotherapy, regular lumbar punctures, and steroid treatments, along with close monitoring due to the risk of serious complications. Through the physical and emotional challenges, Benjamin faced each day with a smile and showed incredible strength throughout his treatment journey.

His diagnosis also changed daily life for the entire family. Benjamin’s need for full-time care meant his mom had to stop working, leaving his dad as the family’s sole financial provider. Keeping up with everyday expenses became increasingly difficult as they balanced Benjamin’s medical needs with their other financial responsibilities.
