Meet Postino

Client Story Postino Picture

(March 2026)It began with something small, an unusual tiredness, a quiet complaint of weakness. Then one day, five-year-old Postino Jr. mentioned that he couldn’t feel his feet. In that single moment, his mother knew, with the certainty only a parent could feel, that something was terribly wrong.

She didn’t wait. She trusted her instincts, gathered her son, and rushed him to the hospital. After hours of tests, uncertainty, and the kind of waiting that stretches every minute into an eternity, she received the news no parent is ever prepared to hear: Postino’s heart was failing.

Before his sixth birthday, Postino had already endured two open-heart surgeries. Each procedure carried hope. Each time, his family held their breath and prayed. But his small body rejected both, and now Postino finds himself in the most critical chapter of his young life, fighting with a courage and resilience that humbles everyone around him.

For the past five months, Postino has lived inside a hospital room, tethered to a Left Ventricular Assist Device – a machine that keeps his fragile heart beating while he waits. He is currently listed as 1A status for a heart transplant, the highest priority level on the national waitlist. Every day is a gift. Every day is also a vigil.

And yet, behind that hospital room door, there is more than fear. There is a mother – fierce, devoted, and unbreakable – who refuses to leave her son’s side. As a single parent to four children, she divides herself daily between Postino’s bedside and her children at home, doing everything within her power to hold her family together. Since Postino’s hospitalization, she has had to stop working entirely, surviving now on government assistance alone. The bills don’t pause for a mother’s grief. The electricity doesn’t stay on out of sympathy.

That is where Miracles for Kids stepped in.

By covering this family’s electricity bill, Miracles for Kids did something that goes far beyond a financial transaction. It sent a message to a mother in the depths of her darkest season: *You are not invisible. You are not alone. We see you, and we are with you.*

That is what your support makes possible. Not just paid bills but the profound reassurance that someone cares, that this family matters, that Postino’s fight matters.

Postino is still waiting for his miracle. His family is still holding on.

You have the power to be part of their story. A donation to Miracles for Kids today helps ensure that families like Postino’s never have to face impossible choices alone and that while they fight for their child’s life, we are fighting with them.
