The Pineda Family’s Journey Toward Stability

(January 26, 2026) – Patricio and his daughter Marie’s journey began unexpectedly after a day at the beach, when Marie developed a severe rash, persistent itching, and blurred vision. Initial emergency room visits offered no clear answers, but as her symptoms continued, further testing revealed a leukemia diagnosis that would change the course of their family’s life.

Following Marie’s diagnosis, her parents shared responsibility for her medical care while Patricio continued working and did everything possible to remain present for his children. When Marie later relapsed, the emotional toll became overwhelming for her mother, and Patricio stepped in as the primary caregiver, ultimately obtaining full custody of Marie and her siblings.

In order to ensure Marie received consistent care and attended frequent medical appointments, Patricio was forced to leave his job, placing the family under significant financial strain. They lost their home and moved into an RV in Banning, CA – navigating instability while focusing on Marie’s treatment.

The family later found stability at Miracle Manor through the Miracles for Kids Safe Haven Program, which provided a safe and supportive environment during this critical period. Determined to rebuild a foundation for his children, Patricio pursued professional training, enrolling in inspector courses, and later a plumbing program through the Miracles for Kids Pillar Program with employment partner, Merge Opportunities.

Despite early setbacks, Patricio persevered, passed his plumbing exam, and secured employment as a Lead Technician — a role he continues to hold today. In early January 2026, Patricio and his family reached a meaningful milestone, transitioning out of Miracle Manor and into an apartment of their own, marking an important step toward long-term independence and stability.

As Patricio continues building this new chapter for his family, reliable transportation has become essential to maintaining that progress. Through the generosity of charitable partners Merge Opportunities and Motive Companies, Patricio and his children were gifted a new vehicle, along with charging support, helping ensure consistent access to work, school, and medical care. This support reflects a shared commitment to removing everyday barriers and creating lasting stability for families caring for a child with a critical illness.
